I always wondered how any mom could possibly have time to blog. It’s not like any of us have spare minutes to kill sitting in front of the computer, and, as a work-at-home graphic designer, I struggle as it is with balancing family time with screen time. I’m still trying to find that balance. I seem to be able to mostly pull it all together without missing any deadlines through occasional babysitters, evenings and weekends when my husband is home, and rare moments when both kids are asleep. Many times though I end up stressed and frustrated when I need to spend a few quick minutes working on a project and there’s one kid sitting on my desk pushing the ‘H’ key over and over (Henry’s favorite letter), while the other one is under it, drawn by the blinking lights of my router.
I was recently thinking I need to work less and simplify my life. Slow down a bit and spend more time being mentally present in the moment and less time being distracted by my to-do list. My kids are growing so fast and it’s hard to keep up with our busy daily life and still take the time to just sit back and appreciate the amazingness of motherhood.
Although I really don’t need to be trying to squeeze anything else onto my plate, I’ve realized that writing things down is somehow cathartic. Maybe by adding something to my life that’s just for me will somehow help me slow things down, appreciate the moment more and take more deep breaths. At this moment I’m typing on my phone in bed with my sweet boys asleep next to me and feeling like I should at least give it a shot. So, welcome to my blog. I’ll share my favorite baby and kid finds, ideas to keep things organized, and a bit of my hectic, fun, and love-filled corner.
